Active Heave Assist©

Introducing ultra-precise, retrofit-friendly compensation for offshore drilling and floating wind turbine anchor installation, enabling less than 10 cm motion of the drill bit in real-world conditions.

See how it works

Active Heave Assist combines with existing assets to compensate for heave in a range of sea states. The video below shows the system working in real world conditions on a commercial project in the West Pacific. You’ll see a live video feed from the seafloor showing the BHA remaining geostationary despite the vessel’s heave-induced motion at the surface.

Key features

• Maintains bottom hole assembly stability during vessel heave

• Supports downhole logging, soft-ground sampling and off-bottom work

• Retrofit to existing passive systems with no overhaul required

• Easy-to-use operator panel with adjustable automation

• Field-tested in deep water on rocky seabed

• Seamlessly shift from passive to active heave compensation

• Simply reverts to passive heave compensation in emergency
